Fire Investigation Team
The Fire Investigation Team is made up of both volunteer and career firefighters. It was created in the late 1990′s and is currently led by a volunteer Lieutenant who brings his experience as an investigator with the local Sheriff’s Office.
The Fire Investigation Team as a whole is being upgraded to include additional equipment, establishment of protocols, minimum training requirements, and the attendance of members to ongoing education.
Within Fire District 1, all fires that result in a loss of $5,000.00 or more are investigated. The Fire Investigation Team is responsible for this task. Since its inception, the team has investigated over forty fires, ranging from wildland fires to residential and arson fires. Fire District 1′s Fire Investigation Team is also available to assist other agencies in South Pacific County who do not have fire investigation personnel. To date, the Fire Investigation team has responded to requests for investigative services from five different agencies.
