fire commissioner Commissioner Fred Hill holds Position No. 1.  Mr. Hill has been an active member in the community for over 25 years.  He was a volunteer Firefighter/EMT for over twenty- two years.  Mr. Hill has also served as a member of the board at Ocean Beach Hospital.  Mr. Hill holds a Diesel Engineering Degree. He is also a self-employed businessman.

Commissioner Greg McLeod holds Position No. 2.  Mr. McLeod served with U.S Army Intelligence for six and a half years.  He was released from active duty in 1967 at the rank of captain.  Mr. McLeod holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from the University of Oregon.  Mr. McLeod has participated as a volunteer coach for high school football, assisted with the wrestling team, and assisted in teaching classes at Ilwaco High School.  He served on the Ocean Beach School District Board of Directors from 1982 to 1986.  Mr. McLeod is currently a volunteer with Pacific County Fire District 1 and South Pacific County Technical Rescue.  He has his own practice as a certified public accountant.  Mr. McLeod is married and has three sons.

Commissioner Tom Downer holds Position No. 3.  Mr. Downer is a 1971 graduate of Ilwaco High School and holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Seattle University.  Mr. Downer served for 23 years as a volunteer with Fire District 1, achieving the ranks of lieutenant and assistant chief.  He was also certified as an EMT for twenty of those years.  Mr. Downer's participation includes sixteen years as a Fire District 1 commissioner, from 1984 through 1999.  

Mr. Downer is very active in matters that are important to the community.  He serves on the executive committee of the Ocean Park Area Chamber of Commerce, he is secretary of the North Peninsula Improvement Association, and he is treasurer of the North Beach Public Development Authority.

Mr. Downer operates a family-owned retail store.  He and his wife Cindy have two daughters.

Fire Commissioner meetings are held the second Tuesday of every month at 1800 hours. Fire Commissioner meetings are held every odd month at Station 21-1, located in Ocean Park at 26110 Ridge Ave, and every even month at Station 21-2, located in Seaview at 3706 N Place.
