Lock Boxes
Lock boxes are boxes that are mounted securely near your main entrance door. Using a special high-security key, fire department officials lock your house or business key in the lock box. The lock box is virtually unpickable. No one has access to the house key in the lock box except authorized fire district personnel.
These lock boxes are especially valuable for individuals who live on their own or who may have a medical monitor. They are also beneficial for vacation homes, where property owners may be gone for extended periods of time, leaving the house vacant.
The lock box provides a means for emergency access by District personnel in the event you cannot open the door or you are not home in the event of an emergency or fire. The additional benefit of the lock box is that it will eliminate the need for forced entry into a building, thus saving time and reducing potential damage.
This program was begun through a grant from the Templin Foundation in 1999. Although the initial funds have been depleted, we continue to offer this valuable community service. You may purchase a lock box, and we will install it, for $35.00.

Reflective Address Signs
Could we find you if you called 9-1-1?
According to Pacific County's Ordinance No. 146, Section 23, building owners must display their building's address in a location that is visible by occupants of vehicles approaching from either direction. If the building is not visible from the road, the owner is required to display the address at the intersection of the main road and the building's access road.
Locating an address can be difficult even in the day. You can help protect your home and family by marking your driveway and/or your home with reflective address signs. Not only will reflective signs make it easier for emergency personnel to locate your home, but you and your friends and relatives will appreciate the ease of locating your house at night.
Address signs are particularly important if you own rental property on the peninsula. Visitors need to know the address where they are in the event they have an emergency.

Address Posts
This driveway entrance marker is 54" tall. The orange reflective top, and boldly displayed 3" white reflective numbers on both sides of the blue post makes your address highly visible to traffic day or night. The address post is anchored securely in the ground with a metal anchor.
House Numbers
Protect your home with these blue reflective 6" x 18" aluminum address panels. The bold 5" white numbers are very street visible for use in town. They are also a confirming addition to the address posts for the end of long driveways. House numbers can be mounted either vertically or horizontally to your building.
Installation
When your address sign arrives, someone from Pacific County Fire District 1 will install it for you at no charge (if you live within the boundaries of Pacific County Fire District 1).

Smoke Detectors
Smoke alarms save lives by warning people about a fire while there is still time to escape. They are so effective that the death rate in home fires with at least one smoke alarm is 45% lower than without smoke alarms.
Proper placement and installation as well as regular testing and maintenance are essential to provide full protection.
Pacific County Fire District 1 has information available on where smoke alarms should and shouldn't be located, proper mounting height, installation and maintenance tips.
Smoke detectors are available from Pacific County Fire District 1 on a need basis. Donations are accepted. District personnel will install the smoke detectors for you.
For more information or to order a smoke detector, call 665-4451, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
